I'm not so sure about this...

I will here attempt to blog. Writing is such a meaningful experience for me that I am not sure if the blog arena is going to be functional for the way I write. As I have given serious thought to writing as a full time thing (I can hear giggles), putting a bunch of text out for the masses does a couple of things. First, I give myself a canvas in a public setting and that makes me a bit nervous. At the same time it makes me want to test ideas... I guess we'll see how much restraint (or inhibition) I really have. Second, it provides a tremendous distraction. I am drawn to writing like a dog to his ratty old piece of carpet in the corner. It is always what I have done when I have something stuck in my head and can't process it.

OK, now that that is out of the way, I can just write.

So, my wife suggested a start a blog. I hesitated because my idea of a blog and her idea of a blog are probably quite different. I did not want to get into a lengthy discussion about the differences. Obviously, I am over that concern enough, or that concern is pushed far back enough in my head that I am doing it. Of course, I imagine there are twice as many first blog entries as second blog entries out there, so I have not proven much yet.

Welcome to my world! I can make no promises about any regularity or any kind of rhyme and reason for these. The title is from a latin drinking song I learned in High School (props to Emery Eaton, one of the sources of my real education). I don't drink, but the song has a nice beat and I can dance to it.
